Co-founder and Director of Operations
As an active local musician in Moncton since 2005, Ilisha has toured Ontario and the eastern coast with several pop-punk and dark melodic punk bands including The Kamalas, Feral Trash and, most recently, Chiller. She has numerous releases on independent labels, both locally and abroad (Dirt Cult Records – Portland OR, Rockstar Records – Aachen, Germany, Superbob Records – Moncton, NB). She is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist from a young age, on piano, guitar, drums and bass. Her drive to work with youth and other community populations stems from an eclectic academic background, having obtained an Honours degree in Psychology from Mount Allison University in 2013, and having extensive experience as a research coordinator in community-based research at Mount Allison University, l’Universite de Moncton, the University of New Brunswick, and the University of Ottawa. Along with this, her experience as a volunteer mentor at YWCA Moncton and the Fredericton Girls+ Rock Camp has facilitated her role in co-founding and operating GMG+R since its inception in 2017. As a mentor and Operations Director, she continues to play an integral role in youth outreach, teaching, program facilitation, event coordination and grant writing.
Amy brings a solid background in both performance and leadership to her role as Program Director and mentor at GMG+RC. A private voice teacher since 2015, she is proficient in designing lesson plans and facilitating one-on-one and group lessons. From a young age, Amy received classical voice training, choral and musical theatre experience and countless opportunities as a soloist. Her leadership and programming experience were earned working with organizations like Pioneer Clubs Canada, local nonprofit New Life Mission and in her role as Playground Leader through The City of Moncton. Amy’s eclectic performance resume includes highlights like choral festivals and competitions from England to Vancouver, fronting a pop/rock cover band in Indonesia, touring the nation coast to coast as a backup singer for indie rocker Olivier Jarda, lending her signature harmonies to a bevy of local favourites like The Divorcees and Ryan Hillier, and more recently, being invited to compose and perform a number for the 2019 Songs of The City event held at Moncton’s prestigious Capital Theatre. These days, she can be found fronting indie rock project Amy Stone & The Veneers and all-female, award-winning, comedic ensemble The Galpines. In addition to her musical ventures, Amy enjoys writing and performing standup comedy and received her certification as a Health Services Administrative Professional from NBCC in 2011.
Mandi has been performing music locally since 2012. As an accomplished guitarist, bassist and vocalist, she has contributed to a number of folk, rock, and blues bands. She cut her teeth in the music scene by playing guitar and bass in Classic/Alt Rock band Sketchbag, a performing cover band in Salisbury, NB, active between 2012 and 2015. Mandi steadily moved on to playing blues bass, at venues all over NB, with the ECMA nominated Matt Landry Band. In 2016, she joined the all-female, crass folk/country band, The Galpines, on bass and vocals. Together, they have gone on to receive the 2017 Music New Brunswick Emerging Artist award, released a successful debut album and participated in numerous local festivals, including Evolve, Follyfest, Paddlefest, and Messtival. Starting in 2019, Mandi has taken up the guitar again in The Firey, an exciting new grunge rock band made up completely of volunteers at GMG+R. Her past musical performance compliments her current role as a teacher and mentor at GMG+R. In her role as a Director at St. Pat’s Family Centre for a number of years, she gained extensive experience in accounting, fundraising and administration, and continues to share her expertise regularly on our board of directors.
Kate has been playing music locally since 2014. Starting off in her youth on clarinet and piano, Kate hit the local scene as a drummer in the post-pop-punk group The Mephistos who played a number of local shows. Following an impromptu Joan Jett cover set in 2016, Kate and two other members (also mentors at GMG+R) formed all-female Dark Wave Pop Punk band Radium Doxy who went to play at the Fredericton National Campus Radio Showcase in 2018 as well as a number of local NB shows, and self-released an EP, Behind Those Eyes. Her most recent project, The Firey, where she plays guitar and sings, is also comprised solely of GMG+R members. Kate’s role as Marketing Director brings her degree in Web Development & Programming, and Business Administration & Marketing, and certifications in Digital Advertising to our team. She is presently pursuing a career in Growth Marketing and Programming with a local Venture-Backed start-up, Alongside. She has thorough experience in market research validation and development, growth experimentation, program development and public speaking. In May of 2018, she was nominated as an inspiring woman for the AmplifyEast Project.
